About Us

I1.jpgWould you like to see a new part of the world but give something back at the same time?

Eyes Wide Open gives people of all ages the opportunity to see the world and make a difference. We facilitate group volunteer travel experiences to South East Asia and Australia’s Northern Territory. Eyes Wide Open tours are between two and four weeks and open to anyone. We provide a meaningful way for you to see new destinations, experience new cultures and undertake volunteer work at Rotary projects such as orphanages, schools, community centres and refuges.

As a participant of an Eyes Wide Open tour, you will contribute to the welfare of the communities you visit. We match your skills with the needs of our partner projects. For example, on a two week trip, you might teach English in an orphanage, help to build a well, teach street kids how to brush their teeth, issue oral polio vaccines, fundraise to donate a wheelchair to a disability centre or donate books. These are just some of the activities you could undertake amongst underprivileged communities that need your assistance, your awareness and most of all, hope.

By becoming involved with local communities, you will receive real, grass roots experiences and come to understand the plight of people whose daily struggle is survival. Our hope is that even once participants are back in the comfort of their homes, they may be inspired to help contribute to solutions towards a better world.

We understand that part of visiting a new place involves getting out and about experiencing the cuisine, culture, scenery and major
attractions. We give you plenty of time to do this, as well as relax, shop and appreciate the contrasting backdrops that a new destination has to offer.

Eyes Wide Open is a non-profit organisation that operates under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Melbourne South. Eyes Wide Open is endorsed by Rotary District 9800.
